The York Mystery Plays 2012 is a community-led project, and there are lots of associated events happening around the plays.
From Historical Lectures to modern interpretations of the plays, there are plenty of interesting and sometimes free activities to take part in.

YorkWalk will be offering walks following the site the Mystery Plays have visited over the last 800 years or more. Walks start by visiting the set of the 2012 production (and the site for productions from 1951 - 1988) which uses St Mary's Abbey as a backdrop. Then focus turns to the medieval plays to discover how they were produced, following their exact route. For more information on public or private tours contact 01904 622303.

The History behind the Mystery: A lively introduction to the rich and complex history of the York Mystery Plays from their medieval roots through to the modern day.
Lectures take place at Tempest Anderson Hall in the Yorkshire Museum.

In partnership with the York branch of Script Yorkshire, the 2012 Mystery team put together a script competition for local writers to write a modern response to plays from the Mystery Cycle.
Following a development period for the winning writers watch their first public performances - exciting, modern interpretations of some of our most famous Mystery Plays.
The Historic Guilds of York will welcome other cities who own Mystery Cycles to take part in a free 1hr performance on the York Wagons giving a wonderful insight into the differences between the York Mystery Cycle and others born of the same period.

The rapidly expanding York Mystery Plays Archive welcomes your stories both past and present as they form an integral part of the offering surrounding the 2012 production.
See the Yorkshire Museum Medieval gallery brought to life with contemporary fashion, films, performances and visual arts. All in celebration of the York Mystery Plays, the 1212: The Making of the City exhibition, and the Olympics.
